I think we can all identify with that. But did you know you can get your local library to purchase almost any book for you, just by asking? Now, I suppose the downside is that you can only borrow it, but you still get to read it for free!

All the information you’ll need is the title and author, although the publisher and ISBN is helpful, too. If you look up the book on Amazon or any similar site, all of that is available.

One way to make your request is simply to speak directly to the library staff.  But you can also take advantage of the online request option that most libraries feature. Down at the end of this post, I’ve included screen captures from both the Redmond library and the Spokane library to help give you an idea of how easy it is.

If you’re hesitant to go the library route because you want to support the author, then please know this:  getting the library to buy one of my books helps a ton!  Not only is it a sale, but it makes the book available for everyone who reads it after you. It also encourages the library to purchase future books by the same author.

So if you decide to give this a try, then on behalf of myself and authors everywhere — THANKS!
