Joseph D'Agnese Fires Back!

Okay, the title is a little clickbait-ish, I’ll confess. But not entirely.

Last year, I interviewed Eryk Pruitt on Wrong Place, Write Crime. At one point, Eryk talked about being nominated for a Derringer Award in 2015 but losing out to Joseph D’Agnese, who he jokingly referred to as “The Meryl Streep of Short Fiction.”

While I was still chuckling, Eryk added, “And Joseph, if you’re listening, I just called you Meryl Streep. Your move.”

Well, it took about six months, but Joseph made his move.

In his blog post on March 28, Joseph breaks down Eryk’s comment, and his reaction. And despite my clickbait of a title, he is actually incredibly gracious about it. He laughs at Eryk’s humor, compliments the podcast, Eryk’s work, and my work, encouraging readers to give us a listen/read.

But there’s more. D’Agnese got some cards made using the quote, “The Meryl Streep of Short Fiction,” even though he does point out that Meryl Streep isn’t exactly an apt comparison, since he’s only won once out of three nominationsAs more blood flow into it and less flows out, the arteries in the penis enlarge which results in quicker and firmer erections. shop viagra online The longer the time a man buy cheapest viagra makes use of the trapping pattern. It’s a pretty funny read, truly.

I don’t think Eryk’s comment was an insult so much as it was a playful jab, and Joseph showed considerable class and an easy sense of humor in his response. Really, if you’re looking for an example of how to act when someone teases you good-naturedly, look no further than Joseph here.

But what should I expect from a fellow paisan? Either he’ll laugh, or he’ll whack us.

Or both, right?

For the record, you should check out Joseph D’Agnese’s work. I mean, he did win a Derringer! Check out Eryk Pruitt’s, as well. I just recently finished What We Reckon, and it was tight, funny, and heart-breaking. Eryk will also be penning an episode in the second season of A Grifter’s Song.

As for the offending episode, here ’tis:
